Upstate Steel is a family-owned company and a leading fabricator and supplier of structural steel, sheet, and plate. We serve a wide range of industries, including commercial construction, residential building, municipalities, and highway/bridge (DOT) projects. Our in-house capabilities include shearing, sawing, CNC cutting, forming, rolling, and code welding.

We are seeking a Welder for Carbon Steel: Structural and Plat Fabrication to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

• Read, interpret, and fabricate components in accordance with blueprints and shop drawings
• Consistently meet established production and quality standards
• Collaborate effectively with a team of welders and fabricators
• Identify and report engineering discrepancies and template errors
• Set up and operate a variety of metal shop equipment, including torches, grinders, and saws
• Perform welding in compliance with AWS D1.1, D1.5, and NYS SCM codes
• Execute welding processes including SMAW, TIG, FCAW, and SAW
• Demonstrate strong blueprint and shop drawing interpretation skills
• Perform layout work using templates and precision tools such as squares, tape measures, soapstone, and gauging devices
• Safely perform basic rigging and operate overhead cranes

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior construction and/or industrial experience required
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including occasional heavy lifting
• Comfortable working in varying conditions, including noise, dust, and temperature extremes
• Willingness to work extended hours as needed to meet production demands
